This section will be a log of our first-hand experience and personal thoughts surrounding the music industry. - Trace and Dave
What's been going on?
Well, the summer is almost to a close and I would like to say this summer has been really great. For those of you that know me I enjoy entertaining my friends and family by the pool. I just love to swim. One of my favorite past-times. I will be taking a road trip to Nashville this October to see what I have been missing. In other words I have never been and I am doing it. My husband and I are going to drive there and make contact with other musicians etc.. I will try to hook-up with other musicians to do open mic nights to get the originals out there. So wish me luck! I hope this blog finds you in good spirits and if you would like to sign into my guestpost I will then place the comment on the website or if you would like to keep it private send me an e-mail tracydelucia@tracydelucia.com. Whichever way I would love to hear from you.

Adding new songs to the set list. Taylor Swift - Our Song, Carrie's Last Name - how funny! - Love that song, it will work perfect leading into our bew tune - "Backseat"! Those are being added to the LeAnn Rimes tune we recently started playing out with = Nothing Better to Do...what is that they say about idle hands?!!! and Rascal Flatts "Me and My Gang". Mark can't make the next show so we have Tom's brother on board - listen up we are also adding a few classic/southern rock tunes for him to sing -Molly Hatchet, Georgia Satelites, the Doors, and a Ringo/Beatles song. Sets looks solid - come on out to the next show at The Roadhouse March 7th. I'm back in American Idle mode with the rest of the world - no favorite yet, but I'll be picking one soon!

Been months since I added anything - guess I don't have much to say or keep forgetting or too lazy or whatever...so what's going on you ask? It's taken me forever to finish up these three new songs - almost done (I think). You can at least hear two of the on the site now "Sacrifice" and "Ain't Got Time" - they are not on any CD yet so you can only hear them here. The last one "Backseat" will be uploaded sometime in Feb. Played The Roadhouse last night, as always, met some good people there. Worked a few new songs in to the set - Leann Rimes and some Rascal Flatts. We played with a new bass player - Lester Wilson, since Tom and Denny couldn't make it - you'll see him again sometime. My three cousins drove aaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllll the way up (2 hour drive) from Long Island to see me play - that's family right?! Love you guys. See you all soon. - Trace!

Okay here it is I was offered to fly on jet Blue for my first real gig. Wow I feel like a rockstar! Anyway there is some good stuff coming up. I have three new songs that we are working on. They sound great musically. And I am sure they will sound great when we are finished, but the true test is you guys, my fans, so look for those to come out over the next couple of months. We will try to incorporate them into the coming shows. So you may want to make the next couple of shows to check those out. Otherwise life is great! My feeling is that we must always move forward in wherever we are in our lives. Oh and never look back because always remember- been there, done that, don't need to do it again.

Had a great conversation this week with someone who has a full-time big-time job, a family - his wife plus three healthy, active kids, and is now going to school to get his masters. Two classes a week plus 15 hours of homework. Not easy adding that in to a schedule. I told him that it was a tremendous effort and he said, " you know, you have to keep pushing and getting better." Ain't that the truth! Wanting more(even when you have a lot) is not a bad thing. Going for more keeps life interesting, it's liberating, cuts down on regrets, uncovers unknowns, and with every new experience there is always a lesson to grow from...and pass on to others - especially the kids!

Had two dates in the studio this week - recording 3 new songs. On 8/25 we got the basic instrumentation down - guitar, bass, and drums - also did a quick vocal to get familiar with the tunes. It was suppposed to be a "scratch" track but after listening back I think we are going to keep a lot of those takes. They sounded pretty cool, I'm psyched! I tracked more vocals on Thursday and will be back in on Sept 10th. The music is KICKING on these tracks - can't wait to get them out to you all, but it could take a bit of time still. We still haven't even started (any good) lyrics on one of the tracks.

Saw Martina McBride last week at the Today Show Concert Series in NY.
UP close - three sings, lots of fun. She was of course super-awewsome and she had about the biggest crowd I've seen for a country artist - all that crossover appeal really helps in NY! thisclose to getting an autograph, she stopped to sign but before I could locate the Sharpie (rookie mistake) she was ushered away by security - damn! Met Mike Bennett from WHUD right after he did his interview with her. Really great guy - very personable.

Wow - it's been weeks since I put in an entry, I'm slacking! Recently I saw Sugarland perform at Bryant Park in NYC on Good Morning America. Caught 2 songs - Something More and Settlin' - both songs we do in our set - how cool is that! - they were so damn good, I wanted to jump up on stage! Afterward they hung around a bit and signed autographs for everyone who wanted one. I find that a lot of country artists will hang out and sign autographs for fans. At the Today Show I saw a few country artists and they all take the time sign - Tim McGraw (one of the nicest people I've ever seen - he circled the stage, signing autographs, taking pictures, talking to fans...real special), Brad Paisley - he signed a bunch, Gretchen Wilson (she has one of THE BEST signatures I've ever seen!) - but she didn't talk to me even though I was trying to chat her up a little with small talk, never spoke back, kinda strange, but what the hell, maybe she didn't want to talk before she performed, I think a lot of artists do that. Anyway, I still thought she was so cool! Big and Rich - I have new names for them I won't print, we'll Big Kenny anyway, wouldn't accept my CD or sign my Godfather poster (get it, he's the Godfather of the Muzic Mafia), well aparantly he didn't get it, some security guard jumped in and said -"Oh we gotta go, he has interviews to do", yeah?? where?? we're in NYC, where's he going?? LOL, there's no country radio station here, there was some 10 year old kid with a Mohawk hanging around to get a signature also, the kid got one from John Rich - good for him, nice quite kid, he was there with his mom and dad.

Big Bummer Rainout for the Geering Park show this past Wednesday - We'll try to reschedule a date with the town of Fishkill. Big loss all around, Craig drove an hour just to eat chips, turn around and go home, Mark came with his family, and lost out on another job which he "subbed out" to take this one, Tom and Dave took vacation time from work to get to the job on time - I guess you can't predict the weather...of course, the next day was "GORGEUOS." That's LUCK for you!
We had a couple from the cooler as we debated whether the rain would stop and got a few chuckles from the kids' antics in the puddles so it wasn't a total loss. Someone came out just to ask if I was related to another "De Lucia" whom she sang with when she was younger and had lost contact with. There was no relation, but I thought that was pretty cool! THANK YOU everyone who was willing to venture out in the miserable weather to come see us play - ESPECIALLY LISA R. WHO TOWED FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALONG!!

Working on getting a date in NYC. A promotion with website www.buyyourfriendadrink.com (which ties in to my song "Girls Night Out (Wanna Grab a Drink)- Hope to have that date soon. Check out their website - it's pretty cool - you can buy one of your friends a drink right on-line - your friend prints out a coupon and goes to a sponsored bar to get his/her drink!
Contacted 5 bars to get work!
A bit tougher finding good places to play doing the "country-thing" than we imagined. Most people in NY don't get that "country-rock", "modern-country", "today's country" whatever you want to call it is a pretty wide-ranging genre right now. Alot of the music is rock/pop with fiddle and steel-guitar. I've even seen a NY Post article that described today's country as an off-shoot of classic rock. It is! Plus, those Nashville musician's are excellent and so are the song-writers. I often wonder if Tom Petty and Mellencamp would be considered country by today's "country" standards - hell even Bon Jovi is now classsified as country! And their new stuff is a somewhat like us - guitar-driven with country overtones and influences.
Writing new music- we'll be back in the studio in August to finish up three songs we're working on. Melodies and song-structures are down - doing tons of lyric re-writes.
